When certain chests or furnaces are open nothing is in them although items were inside on realms

When i was going on to my friend's realm i noticed i had been kicked or removed. I called up my friends to invite me back but they said i was already invited. Before this i stayed afk on horse. Once i was able to join, i noticed that certain chests had no items in them although i had filled them up with many items Ex:Ores, Building Blocks, Tools, ect. Then when i had checked what was up above certain chests had items in them. This was apparently happening to only me and my brother while the rest actually saw the items.

Steps
1. Stayed afk on a horse then left realm
2. The next day i was taken out of realms
3. checked chests and furnaces and noticed nothing was in them
