Jungle biomes with missing bushes and trees

I was exploring a world in creative mode and came across a chunk of land with missing plants. Strangely enough there are ferns and one small tree with bushes around it, but they do not merge correctly with the rest of the jungle, like if I were to switch out one chunk for another.
