game isn't working. Will load, but as soon as first move is made will crash

Tried to play minecraft for the first time. DOwnloaded and followed the steps accordingly. Then when loading up the game it allows me to create a world.

After the world has loaded I try and make my first move only to have the game crash and return me to the main menu of the starter app, not the game. I would really like to play this game.
