Minecraft game crashing on my PC, says "Java(TM) Platform SE binary has stopped working"

When I try to play the Minecraft game on my Dell Laptop, with Windows 8.1, I can log in and get to the title screen. I can go to look at my saved games, but when I try to play the game it crashes and kicks me out in a short period of time. It comes up with "Java(TM) Platform SE binary has stopped working" in a box. I have tried updating my windows, updating my Java, updating my minecraft, and re-downloading the minecraft game completely. Nothing has worked so far. I am getting very frustrated, I just want to play the game. I have had the game for about 3 years and have never had a problem until about a month ago.
