Unable to craft some wood items with Spruce wood

Tried making a door using a crafting table, per usual, but nothing appears when the recipe is correctly placed. Then my stuff was blown up by a creeper or something, and I tried crafting a crafting table with spruce, also does not work (Screenshot attached)
