fullscreen is crashing minecraft and it wont turn off when i leave

What I expected to happen was the game would go fullscreen
Describe what you thought should happen here

*What actually happened was minecraft turned black, i could still move and click, but couldn't see

Steps to Reproduce:
1. turn minecraft visual options on
2. click fullscreen
3. minecraft turns black.
