Non-Oak Woods don't craft into sticks, buttons, etc.

When playing in my survival world, I found that I could not craft sticks using woods like spruce. I took some oak wood off of a near by building and put them into a crafting table. Oak wood appears to be the only wood that can be used to craft sticks...
