\n in title json creates strange character instead of starting a new line

When \n is used in the json of title, it displays a "LF" with a dashed border instead of starting a new line like in books.
Command:

/title @p title {"text":"this is a\nTITLE"}

When this command is ran, what is in the attached picture happens.
