Render and FPS

Well I've been playing minecraft for a while now on my laptop and right after 1.9 came out I can't even put up my render past 3 on single player and if I do it glitches out the whole world. No matter what I do it doesn't seem to help all my settings are the same and it still does it. When I set it to another version it goes back to how it was so it's rather im stuck using 1.8.9 or I have to have very low render.
