Missing Items

I went to the nether this morning, using a flint and steel I've had for quite a while. While there I obtained 2 netherrack and returned to the overworld. I lit one and put the other in a chest. When I came back on, the netherrack, and the flint and steel were missing and I'm not sure if anything else was. I'm not sure if it's from my computer or something
