Cannot start Minecraft from launcher or access launcher.mojang.com

I was first made aware of this issue when my modded Minecraft was not able to launch the game, saying that it couldn't download a few files off of the Mojang website. The same issue occured on my official launcher of minecraft when trying to start 1.9.2 vanilla. I was going to reinstall Minecraft to see if that was the issue, but when I tried to download the latest .msi or .exe files on the Minecraft.net website, I got the following error message on my webpage:

"launcher.mojang.com’s server DNS address could not be found."
