I have this problem as well. Ubuntu 18.08 LTS running BDS 1.16.40.2, Win10 client with 1.16.40. I can only connect if I add the server under the "Servers" tab, and then login with my Microsoft account.
On iOS, the server only pops up briefly and will disappear if I don't join quick enough.
Resolution: Unresolved → Invalid
