World seed is visible on non-cheats worlds

Summary

I’ve created a dedicated server – official Bedrock for Linux. Running a survival world with cheats disabled.
Joiners have equal capabilities, in-game achievements can be obtained.

But.... everyone can see the server’s seed, in the settings window (screenshot attached).

Steps to reproduce...

  1. Create a Bedrock server, survival mode, cheats disabled (server software version 1.16.1.02 Linux)
  2. Login to server on any device
  3. Open settings > World > Game
  4. Scroll down to Seed

What I expect should happen...

The world’s seed is hidden

What actually happened...

The world’s seed is visible to everyone

How this impacts BDS

Everyone can create a duplicate world on their devices, explore it in creative mode with cheats, search for locations etc. Then come back to the server and have unfair advantage over other players, unlock achievements easily.

Could I please ask you to update your report to more clearly identify what the problem is you are reporting. Its not enough to link to an external page as that page may not always be available. You mention you can't whitelist with a non-cheat server which isn't accurate so I'm a little confused.

If the comments on that post are correct and it works the same way in both editions this is likely to be deemed a feature request which would belong on https://feedback.minecraft.net but if you're unsure I'm happy to test once you've updated the report.

Ideally we're looking for something in the format of:

Summary

My pet creeper bruce exploded when I was not nearby

Steps to reproduce...

  1. Get a creeper
  2. Nametag him bruce
  3. Bring him near a cat named c4
  4. Note Bruce explodes without a player nearby

What I expect should happen...

Bruce should continue living

What actually happened...

There appeared to be an unexpected interaction where bruce chose to unlive

How this impacts BDS

I can't have a creeper named bruce

Apologies for the messy previous post.

If the described feature is intentional then, well....  then I will post it in the feature requests.

Parity - see MC-187978

Possible feature request given this has always been the case for Bedrock but will leave for the devs to decide. I don't think it qualifies under parity rules as its not a "feature" per-se but can see how you could argue both sides.

I think this is intentional.

Per ADO closing as Won't Fix.

I think this might be a quick fix with the current UI system, so I'll take a look, If not, it'll have to wait until we do a UI refresh of this screen.

Has this been responded on? Our BDS is showing the seed to Survival players on PC.

Why are these settings not hidden from players? When did this change?

How can we hide this info from players?

"This helps out people who play on bedrock servers because it would make people have to explore the world instead of finding the seed, looking it up on creative, and basically cheat."

" I’m runnig a vanilla survival world on a dedicated server with achievements so the visible seed totally makes no sense. Especially that there are serious other limitations for non-cheats server such as unable to whitelist from chat (even ops), practically no commands available, even /scoreboard isn’t enabled."
