It won’t let me join my friends

I was trying to join my friend but after a long wait it came up (connection timed out.........could not connect to world I’ve tried multiple times and nothing worked I’ve restarted the game lmultiple times and they didn’t work either and I’ve restarted my console(Nintendo switch)but still get the same message
