Nether update causing sand to break on retracted pistons

I had a piston door that worked by letting sand fall onto pistons. Now, with the new update, it's breaking and dropping the sand blocks rather than letting them fall onto the pistons, even though the patch notes say that issue is fixed. I never had a problem until the update.
