Server log file isn't adequate

The log file that is outputted when running a dedicated server contains very limited information, only logging players joining and leaving as well as some start up information. It would be really useful if it also recorded in game chat and any other commands run on the server. The log is also overwritten each time the server starts, it would be nice if this didn't happen.

I know similar things have been mentioned in the past but it is just annoying that something that seems very simple to implement and integral to server admin isn't a thing yet.
