Whenever I mine a block in minecraft PE, nothing drops. It’s a survival world in normal mode

I was breaking some grass blocks with a shovel and I realized nothing was dropping. I tried mining other blocks and realized nothing was dropping. Nothing shows up in my inventory either. I’m in survival mode normal difficulty
