Blocks disappear but don't actually break

If I try to mine the block disappears and if I do 2 high will let me move forward into the space the blocks occupied but I will then start taking hits as if I was suffocating. When I back out and tey to place anything such as a torch of different block the original blocks will reappear. Also of note is that any block broken or mined does not leave a mined block to be picked up. This is happening on 2 different accounts both bedrock and on android platform.
