Minecraft world reset

me and my friends were playing a world i created and it was laggy so i saved and quit and closed out minecraft and opened it back up, i then joined the same world and all of our stuff was gone. we all spawned at spawn with nothing but in the same exact seed as the world we thought we were joining. its like everything just reset and it only happened to that world, and none of my other worlds
