Furnace smelts stone into cobblestone

I was playing around with the early release of Minecraft Earth and found that the furnace recognizes stone as a material to smelt into cobblestone, but not cobblestone into stone. I wasn't sure if this was intended behavior, but coming from the Java / Console / Pocket Edition, I figured it was a bug.
