Seems to be resolved. Test with my own Xbox. Not sure why my friends who have the same equipment as I do are having problems. I know there are like 3 different versions on the xbox store. Perhaps that's the issue?

Scratch that. Friends still can't get on the server. Perhaps the version number isn't the problem. Did you blacklist DNS server changes?

After more troubleshooting I've updated the ticket to be more concise. What I thought was just a simple version match issue I've now been able to confirm this is not the case. Problem description is now updated with my findings.
Hi
Does 3rd party servers like for example "The Hive" cause similar issue when connecting?
This ticket will automatically reopen when you reply.
It seems to have resolved now after you fixed the switch issue. But in answer to your question Xbox users were able to join "The Hive" or other featured servers but the screen to add a custom server did not pop up per usual after changing DNS settings. As I said. It seems to be working now. But certainly was an issue before for a couple days.
Closing as per comment above.
I am now getting the same issue after updating to 1.19.30 and .31, connection fails from PC, Switch, and from same-PC with loopback exemption in place.
