The inventory slot on the far right is bugged

When a block is in the slot on the farthest right slot, it glitches and you can’t switch to a different block.

For instance, I was holding the diorite wall block on the second inventory slot. On the far right slot, I was holding a lantern. I was trying to use a lantern, and so I pressed the slot in which it was in. Instead of the wall switching to the lantern, it proceeded to be the wall. I spam pressed the lantern about 15-20 times and after a while it finally switched. However, everytime I have something in the farthest right slot in my inventory, I need to spam press it in order to switch to the block. This reoccurs every time there is something in that specific slot.
