Friend can't join my server (solved)
My friend and I want to play on a server together and I started it and anyone on my LAN (Local area network) can join but anyone outside of that can't...... I tried disabled my Windows firewall and it still wont work. Now I know this probably isn't the website to post this kind of issue but I can't find anywhere else (I just realized I need to port forward but I will edit if I have other issues)
Environment
Windows 10 Java jdk-16.0.1 and jr-1.8.0_301

Hi
Does your issue still occur after updating to 1.17.11? Have you tried forwarding ports? Did it fix your issue?

I have tried 1.17 (this issue is happening with bedrock and java servers on my pc) Port forwarding didn't work I have disabled my firewall nothing seems to work
I have been using a laggy free server website and I want to start doing modded with my friend but the free server can't handle that.
I meant to mention people on my wifi can still join
you probably have to open the corresponding ports on your router!
try open cmd on another computer and doing the command /ping [private ip of the server] if it says "Request Timed Out"
then go on the other machine and trouble shoot your firewall
