segfault at startup on Ubuntu
Hello,
The new BDS server version 1.16.210 consistently crashes for me on startup, even without any of my world files. I've attached a run from inside gdb to demonstrate the segfault (it otherwise isn't clear what causes the crash from the server output). I have a core file I generated in gdb, but even gzipped it is ~88M, so I can't upload it. If a Google drive link is sufficient, I've uploaded it [https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DjssSiQnrEp6i91j4JhuEl1u_26MXmXm/view?usp=sharing|here]
Please let me know if you need other info or if you might know of workarounds
Thanks!
Owen

I noticed this when updating to 1.16.210. I then tried to re-run the old server and got the same issue. The common thread - I'd done a system update on my unbunto 20.04 server.Β
I've since spun up an 18.04 unbuntu server with 1.16.210 and this seems to start up fine. This would indicate an ubuntu update that has broken something in the BDS server.Β
Hrm. Ok thanks, I was afraid that might be the case. FWIW, I had 1.16.201 working on Ubuntu 20.04, but the packages were a bit out of date. I downloaded 1.16.210.05 and got the crash, so I updated the packages to see if that would help, but it didn't. Haven't tried to .06 release yet.
In the off chance it might be helpful, here is the list of packages the upgrade installed:

So I built an Ubuntu 18.04 VM last night, and 1.16.210 starts ok. In the process I noticed that I'd left an old instance running (on the 20.04 server, where I'd been playing with the scripts from here: https://jamesachambers.com/minecraft-bedrock-edition-ubuntu-dedicated-server-guide/).Β The server had been set to autostart and also auto updates. It was up and running on 20.04 on the new 1.16.210 version!
I've not had a chance to dig into it yet, the vanilla fresh install of 1.16.210 still fails as you've described.
I've also noticed that there seems to be an issue with crafting, simple things like sticks will not go into your inventory, (either the output square on the table remains red with all the components in place, or the inventory updates momentarily) this occurs in the two servers I've managed to get up and running, so it looks like a bug in the new server.
Huh that is odd β I've been using those scripts too. I've modified the startup/shutdown scripts a little, so just to be sure I created a new world using the (latest) SetupMinecraft.sh, but I still get the same behavior.
I wonder what is different about the 20.04 install you have? Would you mind sharing the output of 'apt list --installed' ? other than that, maybe any non-default settings in server.properties?
Is this still an issue in the latest version (1.17.11)? If so, can you please add it to the affected versions (or mention it if you are not the reporter).
