My friend and I were playing on a realm and lost a lot of progress.

I am not sure which affects it is, but it was minecraft bedrock, we were lava striding (on the backs of the fish things) and the realm started lagging for everyone in it to the point where we lost all of our stuff that we had on us because of the severity of the lag. We were killed by a hoard of magma cubes. It wasnt a network issue for the two of us because it lagged for both of us and neither of us are the owner of the realm. We also live no where near each other irl. Is there any possible way for us to get out items back? I also don't know if this is considered a bug or not.
