420 - The Sleepover (Part 2)

"...Oh that? Uh...that's just my...son. Yeah. Say hi, Junior! 'Hrrllo!' See? Didn't even see my lips move or anything."

This arc started life as a simple story. I considered how comic strips like FoxTrot would devote a week or two to a straightforward idea; one of the characters would go to a dance, or have trouble with their homework, etc. and there'd be a set of comics around that. The climax resulting in Kirby and Dedede getting into a pillow brawl (that starts off seriously then ends up being fun) seemed like a natural way to end it. I've always liked the moral ambiguity of these guys and I think it's easy to sympathize with either one of them here.

Continuity! On the note of the Dededoll, a few people predicted (asked?) that the Dedede cup from the last comic would be made into real merch. But in reality, it's just a remnant from Waddle Dee's character page, and a sign of Dedede's self-centric style of living. Who wouldn't want to drink fluid from a receptacle in the shape of their own head?

Besides, I've got my hands full with a different major piece of merch anyway! The BitF book is quite close to its next goal, which would bump up the quality of the paper even more, as well as add full art on the inside covers! And beyond that, I've listened to the requests and am setting the next goal for hardcover versions of the book! For details, you can check the page.
